Perched Up Here

Perched here on this shelf
I get to enjoy all the lessons
And grasp so much of the
third grade topics

It gets quite noisy sometimes
but most of the time it is quiet,
they call it "partner voices"
I am grateful I am shown off here
and not tucked in a dusty corner
somewhere in room 111

I look forward to the read aloud
the students have a lot to say
and that is really exciting
even though the schedules
stay the same
no two days are identical
there is a lot going on

I am looking forward to the
visiting author this week
Did you say he is coming here
on Friday?
I had better stay awake so I don't
miss any of his enticing stories.

Inspired by Poeturescapes I wrote this poem,
from the point of view of my classroom plant.

  1. Julietette, I enjoyed reading your poem. It is not only interesting but it lets the reader know what is happening in the classroom. What a great idea.

  3. What a fun perspective to take in your poem. I always enjoy considering a different point of view and it was fun to see how much your plant revealed about your classroom.

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
