Breakfast Time

Here’s my 7.00am to 7.30 am slice of my day.

Walking to my classroom, I take a detour to the school cafeteria. I have my norm, a panini lookalike with four of my daily fillings. Cucumber…check. Mild, Cheddar Cheese….check. Sliced tomatoes…check and crunchy cucumbers…check. The combo is now pressed under the hot sandwich or panini grill for five minutes to give it the taste and look it deserves.

My granulated ginger and fresh lime infused tea, with local honey is made on my way upstairs. That is what makes me stop at the staff lounge to complete my meal.

On entering my classroom, I settle down for breakfast before any distractions happen. Of course there are distractions, especially when I take out my long to-do list. Aiming for the list to be completed by 8am.

This slice of my day seems to move like lightening and makes me wonder where the time goes.

  1. Reading this slice as somehow my morning routine speeds away from me! Sitting down to eat 15 minutes later than normal. I have the slice of life to blame! 🤣

  3. I can sense your calm before the storm. I take similar time to myself to break the fast but it’s at home…and yet somehow we end up at the same place. ;0

  5. I like the details of what goes into the panini sandwich and like others, felt the calm before the busy day.

  6. Juliette, I’m glad you are writing about slices of your day too. I am enjoying it, as I think to write about things I wouldn’t have thought of otherwise. Your panini and especially the tea sound like a wonderful way to start the day.

  7. Your description is so vivid that made me envious to see you can find such s delightful breakfast in your school cafeteria. For a moment I thought you made a detour to your favorite coffee/tea shop.
