Like a Flower

I feel like a flower
Blooming
With a delicate scent
Furnishing the space

I feel like a pastel colored flower
Decorating
Showing the world
That anything is possible

I am that flower that shone
everyday in March
For about nine years
Reaching for that keyboard

I will be that flower that stays
In the crystal cut vase
And pulls its neck out
announcing to the world

I will thrive!

  5. Ah, Juliette, yes you will thrive. I love that last line the most of all! I really like the placement of the words “blooming” and “decorating” in your poem. The way they sound and look alone on the page is powerful.

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
