Writing Decisions

I did well this week. I wrote a slice a day early. That was the slice I was hoping to publish, but decided against it. Do you sometimes write pieces and feel they are not good enough or ready to publish?

That is how I felt today, but I don’t want to break my cycle of writing on Tuesdays, so I decided to write anyway.

I now have a few pieces I have written and not published. Maybe one day I will revise or use parts of them to create a slice or two.

The slice I wrote yesterday was about my Grandma Alice. I felt there was so much more I needed to include. It would be like a series, as those memories are numerous and special. I needed to have them documented for my children, as they never met her.

When I was writing about my Grandma, I felt her story would make a special picture book. I could see parts of our experiences with her coming to visit, her words and what she did with us as extremely significant.

Many parts of it is cultural and will be an engaging read. An exposition, for my children who are in their twenties. Times have changed so much, so retrieving and recording the memories is important.
