  • Trying Something New

This vacation, I decided to take lessons in African drumming. This journey has been truly awakening. Here I was, thinking that drumming was as easy as it seems when watching local drummers play. When I started the lessons, I found out the intricacies of drumming which makes me keep using this mantra, “Nothing in this… Continue reading

  • The End of the Road

I decided to write today as it is the penultimate day of my leaving my school. I have worked here for sixteen years and grown as a professional. I feel a lot of gratitude as I leave this place that was practically my home. I feel I have spent much of my professional life here… Continue reading

  • Another Ride Accomplished

I have truly enjoyed this ride. It really makes me feel I have grown as a writer or I’ve become a little more confident. At first I would have been careful in, my choice of topics and was never sure how my readers would receive my choices. This year, I have just sat and written… Continue reading

  • She Strode In To Meet Me

The lift door opened, I was totally preoccupied with a discussion about the Art exhibition we had just experienced, loaded with my bags, I did not even look up, I needed to ensure I had all my belongings intact. I’ve been known to be in a muddle sometimes, carrying four or five bags at a… Continue reading

I have been struggling to find a topic today. This morning, I wrote about the church service, but felt it was a slice I had to add to. So this evening I felt I should just write a story. So here it is – the beginning. She spotted him during the remedial classes. He was… Continue reading

She tapped each letter while he piped the sound. Covering for a teacher, with little time to plan, she suggested, her two students teach me what they’ve been learning. I was mesmerised! What I observed was a testament of super teaching and students who have soaked in the power of great instruction. One student took… Continue reading

  • Fascinators

A prompt from Teach Write for March. It is fashionable to wear fascinators to weddings, funerals and planned gatherings that call for fascinators as part of the outfit. We select the best one, colour, height that matches our outfit or physique. At weddings, (where I live) in particular, when the sun goes down, I see… Continue reading

  • Comment Turned Slice

“The communal experience is truly enriching. The different perspectives sometimes grown from the variety of experiences makes for a kaleidoscope of beauty. Yes rich in our diversity, I agree.“ I wrote the above comment to the slice written by DMorris yesterday. After reading the comment I had written, I said to myself, “This could make… Continue reading

  • Ring…ring….

The phone call came at an opportune time. I had planned to leave the event early, and was contemplating on my exit plan. How would I announce my early departure? Nobody would understand how I only attended the event for just an hour. Everybody had joined the buffet, but since I had eaten lunch before… Continue reading

  • Aprons

Aprons is one of the March Writing prompts for Teach Write. After church a few Sundays ago, when celebrating the UK’s Mothering Sunday in Accra, there was a nice surprise; the transformation of most of the men at church. Men in coloured aprons. They adorned plain coloured aprons, red, blue, yellow and green aprons. Church… Continue reading

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
