  • Greetings

My learning group and I created this list for mother tongue week. These are our mother tongues. T (student) and I spent part of yesterday’s lunchtime creating this chart. He wrote the words and I had to do a little bit more research on Google Translate to check the spelling in the different languages. The… Continue reading

  • Revealing Sentences

Do you have a sentence a day journal? I’m wondering if I am doing this right. Mine is a tiny, old diary that lives beside my bed. Before I nod off every night I recall my day and write down the first thing about the day that comes to me. Sometimes I wonder if that… Continue reading

  • Two Puppies

The two young ones came with their dad to choose a puppy and ended up selecting two. My German Shepherd had three puppies about three weeks ago. I bought Bailey as a puppy from a friend a couple of years ago, as I felt Rona, a mixed breed was lonely. They become very good friends… Continue reading

  • A Juggle of Colors

The orchestra played the most melodic tunes. The talent was evident, enchanting voices piped with the instruments, so beautifully. The high tones drew the congregation in. There were interludes when the autobiography was read by a popular local actor, selected purposely for his baritone voice. That set the scene. The elderly man wrote his life… Continue reading

  • The Words I Speak

Being multilingual can be an advantage. Where I come from there are over sixty languages. It is actually mind-boggling. I speak one very well and understand about three others, although I’m unable to speak two of those very well. Most of them time, when I am speaking to locals, I can switch between two languages… Continue reading

  • Tattered Books

Strewn on the table as if discarded books lay open tired pages crumpled pages stained pages with words from long ago childrens’ voices travellers’ voices books kept for others to ‘see’. Walking down the stairs after work yesterday was a worn wooden table holding a number of student created scrap books. Books that they travelled… Continue reading

  • The Proposal

I’d been standing at the arrival hall for about an hour. The Sunday evening arrivals are many, all landing around the same time from Europe, America, Middle East and other parts of Africa. Who knows where the passengers embarked from? Mine was arriving from Germany via Istanbul. I used up the wait time trying to… Continue reading

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
