Colors of the World

Dotted high above heads were flags, colors of over sixty countries. The parade was touching as patriotic young ones marched confidently behind their individual country’s flag. It portrayed the world as one massive village.

Our home country, Ghana, had an outstanding show; Queen mother carried in a palanquin, men on stills brandishing flags, drummers and dancers from the Ashanti region, showcasing an infectious dance that draws you to move to the rhythm.

The clothes also spoke volumes, national outfits that have more meaning than just the aesthetic.

Food and artefacts from all the continents were shared at their labelled and decorated stalls. It was like coming to a buffet of national dishes, both sweet and savoury. Some tastes novel but familiar.

One can only learn from an environment like this one, that gives. The differences, are all learning opportunities which we hope to consciously draw from.

This event was held yesterday, when we celebrated our annual International Festival at school.
