Words are Gifts

Catch With Open Arms

Dancing through my head

Swirling round and round

Waiting to be caught

Wishing they were released

Still lingering

Waving through my mind

Seeking some attention

Hoping they won’t fall or tear

and be whisked away

this early morn

Beating to its own rhythm

Wobbly but firm

Bothering its victim

Though some meaning sets

They weave and wane

Till attention is given

  1. Ah, those thoughts. Sometimes there are too many of them and sometimes they’re non-existent. Great metaphor.

  3. What a great way to respond to these thoughts by writing them. This poem conjures a lot of questions for me, and I was somehow thinking of birds circling the morning sky. Was that intentional?

    1. Not intentional. I just wanted to write about my thoughts and how they can take me back and forth. It’s interesting how you thought it was about birds. That gives the poem a lot of depth, as it may be interpreted in more ways than one. Thank you

  4. Oh, Juliette, I’m so glad you captured these thoughts and got them down this morning. I feel there are so many ways I can read your poem. I love the ethereal nature of so many of the lines, and then the tangibleness of lines like “Hoping they won’t fall or tear” and “Bothering its victim”. I’m fascinated by your poem and have read it several times.

    1. Thank you for your comment. You have introduced me to this word, ethereal that led me to a Thesaurus. I found about thirty words that have almost the same meaning. I find the unplanned poems help me express myself more.
