I decided to write today as it is the penultimate day of my leaving my school. I have worked here for sixteen years and grown as a professional.
I feel a lot of gratitude as I leave this place that was practically my home. I feel I have spent much of my professional life here and fortunately grown as a teacher.
I have met many gurus and learnt from them through my professional development. Social media was my other learning platform especially in the days when Twitter chats were the norm. I remember a slow chat that was really impactful. My international colleagues have always been a resource I can’t discount.
Many families and languages came through this International school, and made me feel as if I have been around the world. I still find my students I taught many years ago, should I say the graduates?
As an International school, I have also made numerous friends from my colleagues around the world, many of them are connected and know of others in the international school world or can I say network.
Although I am at the end of this road, it is the start of another. When you are not sure of what to expect the feeling is uncertain, especially when moving to a different continent, country and culture.
My experience of working at an International school and moving to another will be relied upon. I am grateful.
