The End of the Road

I decided to write today as it is the penultimate day of my leaving my school. I have worked here for sixteen years and grown as a professional.

I feel a lot of gratitude as I leave this place that was practically my home. I feel I have spent much of my professional life here and fortunately grown as a teacher.

I have met many gurus and learnt from them through my professional development. Social media was my other learning platform especially in the days when Twitter chats were the norm. I remember a slow chat that was really impactful. My international colleagues have always been a resource I can’t discount.

Many families and languages came through this International school, and made me feel as if I have been around the world. I still find my students I taught many years ago, should I say the graduates?

As an International school, I have also made numerous friends from my colleagues around the world, many of them are connected and know of others in the international school world or can I say network.

Although I am at the end of this road, it is the start of another. When you are not sure of what to expect the feeling is uncertain, especially when moving to a different continent, country and culture.

My experience of working at an International school and moving to another will be relied upon. I am grateful.

  1. Your gratitude for this teaching experience comes through loud and clear in your words. You gained knowledge and friends from this time there and I know that they are grateful for all you brought to them. May your new school welcome you with open arms and may it also grow into another “home” for you.

  3. As you embark on a new chapter in a different place, your wealth of experience will undoubtedly serve you well. While the uncertainty of the unknown may feel daunting, your openness to new possibilities is admirable. I’m wishing you all the best as you close this chapter and begin another, Juliette. Your gratitude for the profound personal and professional development you’ve experienced is inspiring!

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
