I’m Almost There

The count down began a while ago, but I can now actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. A speck but truly vivid light. Packing began many months ago. Lists upon lists of items that needed to travel with me, were made.

I decided to take many of my professional books, the ones I’m attached to, especially because I will be teaching a different grade level. I may not need them but I feel better having them with me.

Fortunately, the weather in Hanoi is similar to the Ghanaian tropical weather, so I am packing my clothes and shoes, and not buying any new pieces. Of course, my drums and games are in the boxes.

When you’ve never been to a country you are travelling to, you tend to carry out some research. I have read books about Vietnam, Hanoi in particular, watched a number of videos and asked my Vietnamese colleague many questions. We even had a taste of Vietnamese food, by assembling it ourselves and sitting down to a traditional dinner.

I feel as if I’m almost there.

  2. I admire your adventurous spirit! Moving and teaching in a new country sounds like it will have infinite possibilities, which I’m sure will make wonderful story topics. I can’t wait to read them!

  3. Juliette, enjoy! I’m so glad Hanoi is within your sight now. I love how you put the light at the end of the tunnel: “A speck but truly vivid light.” Have a wonderful time! Do you know Vietnamese or French? Or can you get along with English?

Thank you Denise. I speak some French but I guess I will be using English and a lot of Google Translate.
