Waltzing to The Unknown

I would rather not call this fear, I feel a little anxious and excited at the same time.

The move is drawing near
Hours to go, bags packed and shipped
Everything I believe will be needed

Understanding people will be difficult,
new languages and environment. I
know a little about the place. Videos are
never the same as real life.
Over time, I will be familiar
with my new environment.
New beginnings are never easy.

I know this dance will be mastered, sooner than later.

  1. I am so eager to know where you are moving, and I TRULY hope to read about it, especially this March! I know from your writing about where you live now that you will be a rich and heartfelt observer.

  3. I love the optimism in this piece! The word “Waltzing” in the title embraces the idea of moving beautifully and purposefully into this change/unknown. The line “I would rather not call this fear” is so profound and really resonates with me. It’s so easy to mix up anxious and excited and nervous and come up with an answer of fear in my world. I love that you’re choosing to enter this new phase of your life, this new location, with a lens of excitement and celebration. I can’t wait to hear more!

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
