Procrastination

Do you sometimes have a whole list of topics and titles you have plans to write one day? I have been gathering titles recently and planning on writing them. I seem to have big plans, to pick each of the titles and elaborate on them.

I’ll share the titles here, as when I read each of them the the whole story and more gets revealed to me. My inner thoughts tell me you can add this and that to make the piece enticing. Sometimes, instead of getting on with the writing, I write down the title, at the same time I will be thinking about the direction I will be taking the writing.

Actually, I was able to select one of the titles this past weekend and wrote a beautiful piece which I made very cultural. It says a lot about what we write, and how we can write from different perspectives and for different audiences.

I’m listing some of my titles here. Maybe this will hold me accountable:

From Africa to Asia

Stories from seat 16A

First flight, second flight

The Singing Mother- “Baby shack do do dod do “

The Empty Seat

Creased blankets versus neatly folded ones

Gate C23, Where Are You?

Sleep, Sleep And More Sleep

Amazing Sights

The Setting and Rising Sun

  1. Your titles are intriguing. Can’t wait to hear the stories that go along with them.

  2. I love the fact that you keep a list of titles as writing triggers–that idea is new to me! I’m imagining a journal full of them now…I hope to see the fleshed-out pieces of these you’ve listed for us, someday.

  3. You alluded in another piece that you were making a big transition. I think this listing of pieces of the experience you hope to write is a great idea. The list itself tells quite a bit of the story so far. I hope you will make time to keep writing throughout- we both know you will be glad if you do! And PS- the photo is beautiful. I am imagining it is from the plane. It is so evocative of this period of transition. Best to you!

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
