Following Debbie and Kay‘s plan, my 6.00am to 6.30 am story is as follows.
Clink, clink, clink… On a Monday morning I stretch my hand and try reaching for my phone. I touch my phone and catch another five minutes of sleep… till Clink …clink…clink… I hit STOP and know that at 6.05am I only have 40 minutes to shower, freshen up, dress up, slap some make-up on and be out of my door.
Fortunately, I always have my clothes for the weekday selected the evening before. My rucksack packed and placed at the door, ready just in case I over sleep. This morning was one of those morns, when I woke up fully alert with lots on my mind but thankful for the energy to hop out of bed.
I turn on my dose of the christian message my sister sends to me. It is in Akan (my mother tongue) and sounds quite loud. The preacher, I have been listening to since the Covid period, has a whole service in less than ten minutes. A really animated preacher, he is loud enough to be heard through the dripping water. I listen whilst I get ready. He sings the most beautiful Presbyterian hymns to complement his sermon.
The encouragement and spiritual support his sermon gives is priceless. So needed when you have thoughts whirling around in your head. I never have time for breakfast at home, so it is a true dress up and leave.
As this slice ends at 6.30am, I have enough time to straighten my bed and tidy up my room before leaving.
