Sprucing

12.30 – 1.30pm, slice of my day

With over an hour to spare, I opened this window to get a bit of work-life balance. I needed to spruce myself up a little. The last time I had a pedicure and manicure was during the Christmas holidays. Since then, I have been having a D.I.Y regime on my finger nails.

I have been doing a great job, with my clippers, nail file and clear nail polish. It may even be a nail hardener! Ordering online can be very tricky in these parts. Most items have their features or description written in Vietnamese, so sometimes I resort to Google Translate, but other times I just go by the photograph on the online catalogue.

This was a funny experience when ordering a plastic cover for microwaving. I ended up with a doll’s house sized one. I could not believe what was sent and laughed my head off. I still find it very funny. How could I have made that mistake? Or better still, what could that lid be used for?

Back to my treat. I had a very tidy manicure which made my D.I.Y version look rather unkempt. So until my next visit, back to my D.I.Y manicures.

  1. this whole world is foreign to me, but your slice game me insight into all the complications that the nail industry throws into the idea of sprucing.

  2. Your slice inspired me to tend to my neglected nails today! The dollhouse microwave cover gave me a chuckle; did you ultimately find use for it?

  3. Ha!! I’ll be that is like one of those Temu-inspired memes where people get the miniature version of things and everything makes me laugh when that happens. I had a pedicure this week with my sister-in-law and I was hoping they wouldn’t throw me out for having such neglected feet, so I opted for the hot rocks hoping they’d keep me just because I picked the deluxe spa option. Your post makes me remember that I need to dig out my Dazzle Dry kit. It’s a home version of a manicure in 4 steps that works and is less expensive…..so thank you for this reminder!
