Words are Gifts

“And the Beat Goes On”

Here we are again
After so many months
We are back at it again

A time of the year that
many of us look forward to
I know I do!

A time to read others' slices
A time to learn new words
A time to share some stories

When friends are made
And the comments received
are welcomed

Yes the beat goes on
helping us bounce and bop
Jigging to the daily beats

Thank you Stacey and all
for another great opportunity
to practice our craft
and appreciate others' crafts.

Note: My title is from a song, “And the Beat Goes on” by the Whispers, 1979

  1. I’m going to hold onto “bounce and bop / Jigging” idea as we make our way through these weeks together. Thanks for the inspirational kickoff from a faraway time zone.

  2. What a gorgeous poem, Juliette!
It’s such a great way to start this challenge. I think I’ll print it and keep next to my SOL calendar!

  6. I will be borrowing this and repeating it to you as we make our way through the year together, love it as a metaphor for slicing but also for what we do with our days. ;0

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
