I chanced upon a picture book in my class today. I was hooked by the title, Between Two Worlds. That resonated with me.
I knew I would enjoy the book as the illustrations were very catchy and the colors of the cover page, attractive.
Under the title it read the Art and Life of Amrita Sher-Gil. I got more curious. I had never heard her name. I love biographies, so I read the book, when I could catch a few minutes.
Her life and homes a yo-yo! Amazingly talented artist but had a very short life, and yes she yo-yoed between Europe and India. Hers was a vibrant, bold, creative, caring but brief life. She impacted some and left a story that dared to be different in her choice of art. This picture book is beautiful. I will recommend it to my students, if they have not already read it. The story was written by Meera Sriram and Illustrated by Ruchi Sharma.
