They made the most incredible racket.
Quite surprising really. The promise of the unplanned playtime got them hooting, squealing, jumping and hugging.
After our field trip today, they had a rushed lunch and had missed their play before lunch. They had actually missed the morning recess and the afternoon play before lunch.
We returned in time for our canteen lunch and had to dash for our next lesson. Teachers decided to give the next lesson a pause and hand our students the playtime they missed. Their joy was overwhelming.
It made me happy to see their reaction to the announcement. They rushed out, in order to secure the decision.
“Nobody is going to take this time from us!” their movement displayed.
Play is so important to our students, even third graders. I’m glad we give them the chance to socialize, be themselves and enjoy the variety of equipment and choices they have on offer.
I knew I had caught a slice when I received those surprising hugs.
