  • Nature Caught

The students in my after school activity, journalling class, are third to fifth graders, a quaint group that meets after school on Fridays, to write. More boys than girls signed up this year, which makes me very happy. Yesterday, one of our writing prompts came from, The Curious Nature Guide, “Nature in Unexpected Places”. The… Continue reading

  • 5-4-3-2-1 This Week’s Reflection

This format is borrowed from HMorris. Five things that made me smile When my ex-KG student now in twelfth grade brought me an invitation for her ART exhibition When my colleague called another by his son’s name, I had a belly laugh, since she did not know why I was laughing That invitation to take… Continue reading

  • One Question

The question that was posed during our team meeting yesterday resonated deeply with me. It prompted me to share thoughts and feelings. I realized the impact a question can have on uncovering silenced feelings. Through my response, I acknowledged what was intended but remained unexpressed, and reflected on how addressing it earlier could have made… Continue reading

  • The Book of the Moment

The book I am reading with my book club is: Shrouded in mystery With strange characters who struggle to comprehend one another and are constantly searching for answers The backstory continues to influence the plot , the author skilfully moves back and forth between the past and the present. Shares a gruesome part of history… Continue reading

  • At the Slicer Party

Thank you Leigh Anne for the invitation to the slicer party. For the word buffet, I will contribute: Ethereal;  extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world: Ethereal was used by Denise Krebs in a comment to my post last week. I honestly was not sure what it meant. It sent me to the dictionary and the thesaurus… Continue reading

  • Semi-Kaftan

Using the writing prompt from Teach Write for 17th March- “What I’m wearing now” I wrote this: I have on my after church, relaxing at home dress. Since it is 90 degrees Fahrenheit or 32 degrees Celsius, I am sitting under a whirling fan, indoors but still spotting spots of sweat. So my dress, a… Continue reading

  • A Sight On My Drive

Through the kiosk window was a heap of rice and beans, the rice coloured by the black-eyed beans, mounted in a wide metal bowl. The heap of rice on top was about the same amount in the white bowl, shielded by a thick, clear plastic bag . The sticky nature of the rice allows a… Continue reading

  • Catch With Open Arms

Dancing through my head Swirling round and round Waiting to be caught Wishing they were released Still lingering Waving through my mind Seeking some attention Hoping they won’t fall or tear and be whisked away this early morn Beating to its own rhythm Wobbly but firm Bothering its victim Though some meaning sets They weave… Continue reading

About Me

I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
