I’d been standing at the arrival hall for about an hour. The Sunday evening arrivals are many, all landing around the same time from Europe, America, Middle East and other parts of Africa.
Who knows where the passengers embarked from? Mine was arriving from Germany via Istanbul.
I used up the wait time trying to catch up on my messages, so I perched on a short wall. As I was busily focusing on my phone, I heard a loud cheer.
She (an arriver) had crossed the glass door, pushing her trolley full of suitcases. He a(wait-er) walked up to her, stopped the trolley, and got on one knee to propose. That is when the crowd started cheering.
“YES,” she smiled looking shocked. They hugged tightly to more cheers from the other wait-ers.
Her face was a picture!. The joy was hidden, so many emotions circling her being. I suppose she was not expecting a proposal on her arrival. The waiting crowd needed some entertainment and that was it.
I did not have to wait much longer, my daughter appeared soon after the ovation, I could not wait to tell her what I had just witnessed.
