GIFTS

Pounding those steps                                                                                                               along the lane 
I tell myself 
"You can do it!"

If I can count                                                                                                                           the rounds I put in,                                                                                                                      I can assure myself                                                                                                                    "I can make it!"

The white lines                                                                                                                 stretch along                                                                                                                                         I see them as                                                                                                                              my guiding light

That yellow stripe                                                                                                                 gives me hope when                                                                                                                 my count increases                                                                                                                      I remember the saying                                                                                                     weak body, strong mind!

My walk today felt tedious. I could have stopped at any point, I was extremely tired but I kept pushing myself to keep going.
