Sometimes we want to be alone
To swim in the sea of peace
No sound, tranquility
Only the hum of whatever is humming
Sometimes we want silence
Quietness that allows you to think
To search for your own meaning and the
Understanding of the world
Sometimes there is too much
Noise around us
It does not give us time to reflect
Re-energise our thoughts
This steals time away
Sometimes we need to find moments of
solitude, of peace and quiet
to reflect on the here and now
Serving to face the future
A future of hope and love.

What a beautiful poem! Perfect to read in the morning. Thank you!

Wow, Juliette, as Terje said, what a perfect read in the morning. (It’s just past noon, but I think of it as morning still, since this is a weekend day for me.) I love the quiet, and I just sat for a moment taking in the quiet hums around my apartment and outside my window. Your last stanza says so much.
Sometimes we need to find moments of
solitude, of peace and quiet
to reflect on the here and now
Serving to face the future
A future of hope and love.
Yes, here’s to a future of hope and love! Thank you for sharing your heart today.

“No sound, tranquility, Only the hum of whatever is humming”
That’s a beautiful way of qualifying that tranquility is not empty.

As a teacher, I honor silence and grab it anyway I can. Beautiful description of your silence. Happy Friday!

Appreciate this so much: Sometimes we want silence….
As a mother to four young kids, I feel this deeply. Sometimes we want silence.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem with us.

This is my favorite:
Sometimes there is too much
Noise around us
It does not give us time to reflect
Re-energise our thoughts

Amen to the too much noise. This is why I do not like going in restaurants and why I truly wish people could eat quiet foods in movies because the paper crinkling or the shaking of the popcorn against the cardboard container really irk me. It steals my ability to enjoy the movie.

Yes. Quiet. Sometimes we DO need to close out the noise, all of the everything, and allow our selves to unfurl in the space that we create. THANK YOU for this beautiful poem.

Love the way you circle back to ‘sometimes’ – four times, and by the time I get to the 4th time I really am feeling the solitude and quiet.
Hope you were able to carve it out! 🙂
