The Book of the Moment

The book I am reading with my book club is:

Shrouded in mystery

With strange characters who struggle to comprehend one another and are constantly searching for answers

The backstory continues to influence the plot , the author skilfully moves back and forth between the past and the present.

Shares a gruesome part of history

Fictitious but has many believable parts

Appealing as our group’s discussions are more like queries to reveal more about each of the characters.

One that the author gives enough space to make our own meaning and assumptions

I eagerly anticipate our lively weekly conversations due to the diverse topics offered by this book.

    I am curious about the title, and about how you structure your club with “weekly conversations.” We meet once a month to discuss after—hopefully—having finished the book. I’d love hearing more about this. Happy Reading!

      My book club meets on Zoom once a week. members live on different continents. We read the book over a month or more depending on the amount of chapters. We read a couple of chapters a week and discuss. There are no formal structures so the discussion takes us all over the place, they are very engaging. When it’s their turn, each member gets to choose a couple of books and we vote for one of them.

    Yes we meet whilst still reading and it takes a lot of self-control not to read onb sometimes.

    I like the idea of meeting every week. I can’t believe you’re across continents. That’s amazing. My group meets every few weeks when we’re done with a book. Interesting concept to share before finishing. I read Beloved and agree that it is shrouded in mystery with strange characters. Quite a book. Great slice.
