Mother Ghana
I have been thinking about a slice that would help me celebrate Ghana, as it is the anniversary of her Independence day today, 6th March. I have stated before how I have been looking closely at my environment since I started writing. On my walk about at school this drawing caught my eye. An exquisite… Continue reading

Temptation
Standing on the scale caused a gentle awakening. Trying a low carbohydrate diet has not been easy. I take advantage of being busy and ignore the hunger pangs that will not leave my side. My friend invites me and insists on helping with a plan that works. “You can do it,” she guides. I have… Continue reading

Rainy, Sunny Day
The darkened sky on a sunny day. This got us wondering what was happening. The sky had been clear earlier, during our morning assembly. A few hours later, the dry season had turned into a wet one. I had not read or listened to the weather forecast. I rarely do, as the temperature during the… Continue reading

New Stalls
Desert rose, anthuriums, pothos and more, slowly appeared. During my drive along the new road to work, this morning, I soaked in the environment, noticing many establishments that were not present last year. A variety of flower pots had appeared, some earthenware and others made with cement. Tall, short, cylindrical and box-like. Some decorated or… Continue reading

One of the benefits of my past writing experience is the ability to look intently and intentionally during the day, using my senses and noticing more than I normally would. Seeing beauty and meaning around me, whilst making everything noteworthy. Most of the time, I walk about without drawing deeply from my environment. This writing… Continue reading

Chaos and Order
One of the trips I look forward to during my school holiday is the visit to Makola market, the biggest market in the Accra. I sometimes wonder why I am enthused by the chaos and serious titillations of that crowded space. I guess in all this there is a great sense of order which drives… Continue reading

Parting
Working at an International school has many pros and cons. Every summer the farewells can be draining. The feelings begin early as students and teachers share their plans to move on. Move to greener pastures, to experience something or somewhere different. Students’ families may move because they are at the end of their contracts or… Continue reading

This Time is Mine
Weeks before the end of school, I wrote lists: my to-dos, to read, to write, to call. I had a pile of novels ready to read and professional books to digest. Then I remembered my planned holiday. I have been looking forward to this break just like the previous year, I got to study, rest,… Continue reading

About Me
I am an Elementary school teacher , I taught at an International IB School in Accra, Ghana. I am now teaching in Hanoi. Writing is my passion and I try to write daily, at least in my sentence a day journal, to capture all the blessings around me. I write with groups of writers, such as Teach Write and sometimes Ethical ELA. I also encourage my friends to write , so I created a platform to make that possible -Writing Run.
